Terms of service
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you, the Shopify merchant who installs Spendable ("you"), and More Checkouts Ltd ("Spendable", "we", "us"). By installing or using Spendable, you agree to them. If you use Spendable for a business you work for, you confirm you can agree on its behalf.
1. The service
Spendable lets you sell gift cards, deliver them by email on a chosen date, give customers a claim link and claim page, and issue Shopify store credit, including through integrations such as Klaviyo and Shopify Flow. Gift cards and store credit are created as native Shopify gift cards and store credit in your store, and are redeemed in Shopify's checkout.
You also need to follow the Shopify Terms of Service and the Shopify API License and Terms of Use.
2. Plans and billing
- Plans and prices are shown in the app and on our App Store listing. All charges are billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice through Shopify's Billing API.
- We charge a flat recurring fee only. We do not charge per order, per card, or a percentage of what you sell.
- Paid plans include a 14-day free trial for new installs. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from the app. Changes take effect as Shopify applies them; Shopify prorates or credits charges under its own billing rules.
- The Free plan includes up to 10 gift cards a month. When you reach the limit, new gift card orders are queued or issued according to your settings until you upgrade or the next month starts.
- Fees are non-refundable except where the law or Shopify's billing rules require.
- We will give at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email before raising the price of your current plan.
Shopify may charge its own fees on gift card sales or redemptions (for example its third-party transaction fee on gift card payments for some stores). Those are Shopify's fees, not ours.
3. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Gift card terms and the law. You are the issuer of gift cards and store credit sold or given in your store. You are responsible for your gift card terms, expiry dates, consumer law, escheatment or unclaimed-property rules, tax treatment and accounting. Spendable gives you a liability report to help, but it is not tax or accounting advice.
- Your customers' data. You are the controller of your customers' personal data. You must have a lawful basis and give any notices needed for us to process it on your behalf, including for emails sent to gift recipients and data sent to integrations you connect. Our Privacy Policy describes how we process it.
- Content. Designs, logos, messages and other content you upload must be yours or licensed to you, and must not be unlawful.
- Your account. Keep access to your Shopify admin secure. Actions taken through your store's admin or API keys are treated as yours.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use Spendable to send spam, to sell gift cards for unlawful goods, to launder money, to attempt to guess or harvest gift card codes, to break or overload the service, or to reverse engineer it. We may suspend or limit an account that does.
5. Fraud checks
Spendable can hold gift card issuing on orders Shopify marks as high risk, and on rules such as many cards in a short time. These checks are on by default. They reduce fraud but cannot stop all of it. You decide whether to release or cancel held cards.
6. Availability
Balances and redemption are handled by Shopify, so customers can spend their cards even if Spendable is unavailable. We aim to keep email delivery, claim links and the admin available at all times, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be announced where practical.
7. Uninstalling
You can uninstall at any time. Gift cards and store credit already issued stay in your Shopify store and keep working. For up to 12 months after uninstall, claim links show the card code and a link to your store, as described in our Privacy Policy. Scheduled emails that have not been sent are cancelled when you uninstall.
8. Intellectual property
We own Spendable, its software, built-in designs and brand. You own your content and data. You give us a licence to use your content only to run Spendable for you. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation.
9. Disclaimers
Except as stated in these terms, Spendable is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential losses, or lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your gift card terms, your products, your content, or your breach of these terms or the law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will give at least 30 days' notice of material changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use Spendable after the change means you accept it.
13. Ending the agreement
You can end it by uninstalling. We can end it on 30 days' notice, or immediately if you seriously breach these terms. Sections 3, 8 to 11 and 14 survive.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer or local law gives you other rights.
