Delivery, resends and claim links
Gift cards that never arrive are the most common complaint about gift card apps. Spendable shows you where every email is and lets you fix problems in a couple of clicks.
Where to look
- Emails lists every gift card email that's scheduled, sent or failed, so you can see at a glance that nothing is stuck. The How sending works section on that page explains the schedule.
- Gift cards shows each card's delivery details and a Timeline of everything that happened to it: issued, sent, claimed and spent.
Delivery statuses
- Scheduled. The buyer picked a date. The email goes out at that time in the time zone they chose.
- Sent. The email has gone to the recipient's mail server.
- Opened. The recipient opened the email.
- Claimed. The recipient opened the claim link and saw their code.
- Bounced. The address doesn't exist or the mailbox refused it, and the email has a button to change the address.
Fix a wrong email address
On the Emails page, click Change the address next to the email, type the right address and send it again. The code stays the same and the old link keeps working, so nothing breaks if the first email turns up later.
Change or cancel a scheduled email
Until a scheduled email is sent, you can edit it from the Emails page: change the recipient's name or email, the send date or the time. You can also cancel it, or open the card and click Send now.
Resend a card
Open the card under Gift cards and click Resend email. If a customer would rather have the code another way, click Show redeem code, copy it and send it yourself.
Claim links and codes
Every email has a short claim link, such as spendable.gift/K7QX-29PM, and a QR code. The claim page shows the balance and the code with a copy button, branded with your logo and colours, in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Dutch.
The claim code is 8 characters and never uses letters that look alike, such as O and 0, so people can type it from a printed card. If someone types a wrong code, the page never says whether a code exists, and repeated wrong guesses are blocked.
Emails going to spam
If a recipient can't find their email, ask them to check spam and search for your store's name. If it still isn't there, check its status on the Emails page: a bounce usually means the address is wrong, so correct it and send it again.
